Rev. Matthew Sweeting is a

non-denominational pastor with over thirty years in ministry, and a licensed marriage officer from The Bahamas.  

​

Working alongside coordinators 

on elaborate weddings, he wondered

who was curating the heart of a wedding,

 the ceremony

​​

Matthew developed a solution, 

an intimate service with meaningful vows.

He also created a seamless process for

hassle-free, legal weddings

​

In 2006, he opened Island Preacha Weddings, branding his signature style as a celebrant for local and destination weddings

your Bahamian wedding experience

Legal Weddings

Discovery

Get started with a call to discuss your ceremony, check availability, and get pricing. Review the steps required for a legal Bahamian wedding or another ceremony. By the end of the call you’ll have a sense of what it’s like to work together on your wedding, and understand next steps

Booking

Choose your ceremony and pay a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure the time and date you’ve requested. Receive our service contract and immediate access to our ceremony planning resources

Consultation

Working online and by phone, we guide you through questions about your ceremony and vows, and develop the ceremony you desire. Rehearsals are available by reservation

 

For legal weddings, we arrange your interview at the Registry Office, provide notarized documents, and attend the visit with you to obtain a Bahamian marriage license

Enjoy Your Ceremony! 

On your special day, we arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony begins, connect with your coordinator, then deliver the ceremony just as planned

Receive Your Documents (For Legal Weddings)   

If you had a legal Bahamian wedding, we file legal wedding documents with The Registrar’s office, obtain your marriage certificate, and have it authenticated by Apostille for use in your jurisdiction . You'll  receive your Bahamian marriage certificate by courier within 14 days of the wedding ceremony

The entire process was smooth

From the moment we started working with Matthew and his assistant, Maria, the entire process was smooth.  Matthew got to know us and sent information so we could prepare ahead of time, and he could tailor the service so it was exactly what we wanted.  They were also very helpful for the step-by-step process in getting our marriage license, making it smooth and seamless.  

 

Matthew was so helpful during the rehearsal.  He is so personable. He made us and the entire wedding party feel at ease.  He is casual yet professional.  

 

On our wedding day, Matthew was amazing.  Our guests commented about what an incredible job he did. Many of them commented that it was the best wedding they had been to in a long long time. We are so grateful to Matthew for making our special day absolutely perfect.
