MEET MATTHEW
Rev. Matthew Sweeting is a non-denominational pastor with over thirty years in ministry, and a licensed marriage officer from The Bahamas.
Early in his career, he began working with event planners coordinating detailed destination weddings.
He wondered who was paying attention to the ceremony at the heart of a wedding.
Matthew decided to become the solution. He would provide an intimate service with meaningful vows, and streamline the legal process so couples could have a great local wedding, hassle-free.
In 2006 he opened Island Preacha Weddings, the first official destination wedding celebrant in The Bahamas.
Matthew offers a variety of ceremonies, honoring faith traditions including the irreligious.

His step-by-step discovery process takes couples from requirements for a legal Bahamian marriage, through the couple’s story, to customized vows and
a unique ceremony.
Providing direction, logistics, and on site consultation at the Registry Office, our clients have personal support for a seamless local experience before, during and after the wedding.

After years of working with couples and families as a pastor, Matthew became a SYMBIS-certified counselor. He is passionate about helping couples “Save Your Marriage Before It Starts.” His assessment and counseling sessions lead couples past their ceremony into a rich, resilient marriage.
For more than 30 years, Matthew pastored at New Providence Community Church, also spearheading their national Disaster Relief Programs from 2015
to 2022.
Matthew now enjoys working as a full time celebrant, counselor and trainer. He is happily married to Allyson, the love of his life, and they are raising two sons.
